#WeMadeYourClothes - Fashion Revolution 2021

This year we join the #FashionRevolutionWeek [ Fashion Revolution ] : it is an annual campaign to educate people about the environmental and societal impact of Fast Fashion. Fast fashion is a term used to describe inexpensive clothes of low quality: they do not last long and therefore encourage us to always buy more. To produce them at such low cost, the people making these clothes are often working in deplorable conditions and underpaid. These clothes, in addition to not being made from environmentally-friendly materials, are produced in extreme quantities, which takes up a lot of natural resources and create a lot of waste at the end of their lifecycle. Their manufacture and transport also requires a lot of energy and fuel. Borderline has been committed since its inception to a more ethical and environmentally-conscious fashion, by: > Using organic or reclaimed materials and water-based ink > Producing our items on-order, to avoid unwanted surplus > Creating our articles locally: apart from the certified organic cotton fabric which arrives in Mauritius in rolls, all the other stages of our products manufacture happen locally > Ensuring good employment conditions for those who work to produce our clothes, by personally visiting our partners We’re happy to team up with amazing partners to do so.

Meet Paradise Printing Ltd : We’re happy to print our beautiful designs with them, a small and dynamic team who always ensure us a beautiful work with their water-based ink. It was important for us to print locally, and we’re happy to support another small enterprise! Meet Baobab Company : We’re happy to work with Baobab team to cut and sew locally our shirts, with their GOTS certified cotton. The certified organic cotton fabric arrives in Mauritius in rolls as we sadly do not currently produce certified organic cotton locally; but all the other stages of our products manufacture happens in Mauritius. It was important for us to choose natural fabrics, and to be assured that the production was respectful of the earth and ethical for the workers involved: GOTS certification insures us of that. #FashionRevolution #SlowFashion #Mauritius #borderlinewayofliving
